Well, got Kindle running on the beta of OS 2. With Kindle, iPlayer, and decent browser, this is actually quite a good device. Especially with the ability to run a selection of Android apps. I would definitely but a Playbook over a iPad. Need to see the Fire in person, but given the limited storage and similar size/weight, it would be a difficult decision to change over.

If I had not been able to pick one up from work, I wouldn’t really have considered but having had a chance to look at it, it is good. Although I am not trading my iPhone for a BB to go with it!

Hi Greg, yes the next version of the OS needs to extend its marketplace offerings and however that is done will determine if it is a success, no one wants a Rolls Royce with no wheels now do they.

It is just a shame about the lack of apps. Still, if most of those can be used via the Android player (which I am currently installing on one I borrowed from work), I would be tempted.

The Fire is still my #1 desire (I returned the iPad2 as I found it too big), but if a 32GB Playbook can use all the android apps I need (mainly Kindle!), I will be pretty happy.

All depends on OS 2 though. It needs some big updates to make it a legitimate alternative.
