Hi Tricia.

It is a tablet and an Amazon one at that…..though the operating system is based on Android it is not the same as (for instance) a Samsung Galaxy Tab…..your market for Apps is Amazons, not the Android marketplace….hope that helps.

I am a bit confused. Is my lovely new Kindle Fire considered android or Mobile. I have to download an application. Obviously I am technologically impaired.

Belinda, If you go to Staples, they have every kindle including the Fire plus other types of tablets to compare. Still the $199.

Hi, The Amazon Kindle Fire is a pure WiFi enabled device and no 3G connections are offered, i.e you are unable to get a subscription as you would with an iPad or other tablet with a network (Verizon, o2 etc on a data per month type contract) though there should be a way of tethering an existing phones 3G data as a wireless hotspot and then using that as your wireless point. The Apple and Android smartphone models do this really well, in fact I wrote about how this saved my skin when I moved house and the connection took ages so I was without WiFi for over a month, and this method gave me as fast as normal broadband using my Samsung’s tethering options, be warned though, data used like this can cost a lot, I realised I use about 1GB a day easily, without much video….make sense?

HI Belinda. Ebay no doubt, but not sure about other stores just yet to be honest, though the older version can be bought from many stores, so may just be a matter of time.

Hi there and yes, they are offering a one month trial and it is $79 a year after that…this is truly what the tablet is all about!…well worth the money….and how they are able to subsidise the actual device.
